Wasique Mirza, MBBS, FACP, FASH

Dr. Mirza completed his medical education in Pakistan, his residency training at the Mount Vernon Hospital in New York, and a Hypertension/Cardiology Research Fellowship at Bronx VA Medical Center/Mount Sinai School of Medicine. Since 1999, he has been working as a primary care physician in Northeast PA, mostly in the settings of a Federally Qualified Health Center, serving as its medical director since 2005. Currently, he is practicing as an academic internist with the Geisinger system.

Dr. Mirza has been actively involved in medical education with several institutions, which include LECOM and Penn State School of Medicine since 2001. He currently holds the title of associate professor of medicine at the Geisinger Commonwealth School of Medicine and Geisinger College of Health Sciences. He is the clerkship Director of Medicine with the medical school and Program Director for the Geisinger Northeast Internal Medicine Residency Program at Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center. He has also served as a clinical faculty member at The Wright Center’s internal medicine residency, leading as its Acting Program Director from 2015 until 2017. He has been an active member of several national committees and task forces, entrusted with the promotion of community health, undergraduate, graduate, and community-centered medical education.
