Scott R. Herrle, MD, MS, FACP

Dr. Herrle is a general internist in the VA Pittsburgh Healthcare System (VAPHS) and Associate Professor at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine (UPSOM). He received his medical degree at UPSOM and completed his internal medicine residency, chief residency, and GIM fellowship training at UPMC.

As an educator, he has been recognized by selection into the UPSOM Academy of Distinguished Medical Educators and has received the UPSOM Kenneth E. Schuit Dean’s Award for Master Educator (2018) and the UPSOM William I. Cohen Award for Excellence in Clinical Skills Instruction (2016). For his clinical work, he has been awarded the VAPHS Outstanding Physician of the Year (2012), the VAPHS Clinical Excellence Award (2019), and the VAPHS Excellence in Clinical Leadership Award (2024). Dr. Herrle has also served in multiple editorial roles for ACP MKSAP.
