Peter A. Iskander, MD

Peter Iskander, M.D., is a Gastroenterology Fellow at The Wright Center for Graduate Medical Education. He completed his Internal Medicine residency at The Wright Center in June 2024, where he distinguished himself with multiple scholarly and research awards and served as Scholarly Leader and Chief of Scholarly Activity.

Dr. Iskander co-founded and now serves as Chief Editor of the Scholarly Society of America Journal of Medicine (SSAJM), which advances research led by residents, fellows, attendings, medical students, and others.

Born and raised in Toronto, Ontario, he earned his medical degree from the American University of Antigua and his Honours Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Toronto, Scarborough.

Fluent in English and Arabic, Dr. Iskander is an active member of numerous organizations, including the American College of Physicians, the American College of Gastroenterology, the American Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy, the Society of General Internal Medicine, and the Global Medical Brigades, where he coordinated chapter medical missions to Honduras.

Dr. Iskander attributes his success to a profound passion for his career, genuine empathy, and impactful connections with his patients, all fostered within supportive, community-focused health care settings. He also credits his supportive wife, Rachael Cooper, for her encouragement and shared commitment to health care, as she balances her roles as an executive assistant and medical scribe at The Wright Center for Community Health with her studies as a nursing student at Lackawanna College.
