Title: Strengthening Primary Care Through the Graduate Medical Education Safety-Net Consortium (GME-SNC) Model
Session Description: This session explores the Teaching Health Center GME Program specifically as applied to the Graduate Medical Education Safety-Net Consortium (GME-SNC) model, which builds on the CHAMPS framework to address the U.S. primary care crisis. By immersing trainees in community-based settings, GME-SNCs improve retention, strengthen local healthcare infrastructure, and advance equity. Attendees will examine recent ACP advocacy efforts to unify stakeholders and support GME models that deliver workforce and access gains. Internal medicine physicians are uniquely positioned to lead this movement toward a more resilient, community-responsive GME system with measurable public health impact.
